PURPOSE OF JOB 

 To effectively supervise van sales personnel to ensure that sales, distribution, and merchandising objectives are consistently met, through the effective development of & execution of all route development and distribution expansion plans.

 

  PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

  •  Develop and execute strategies to achieve monthly distribution, sales, and gross profit and collection targets by region with special focus on identified key accounts. 
  • Identify van reps. and drivers’ training needs. 

  • Set distribution targets for each van sales rep. and ensure achievement of distribution targets. 

  • Identify growth opportunities in existing businesses. 

  • Prospect for new accounts. 

  • Ensure that van sales reps. are executing merchandising requirements, i.e. planograms, placements of display units, shelf positioning, etc. 

  • Ensure that drivers and van sales reps. carry out the necessary functions to execute Principal’s trade requirements to effect promotions, placing of POS, stands, etc. 

  • Ensure adequate representation of all brands in all customer accounts. 

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive distribution database by region. 

  • Any other functions to be assigned by the Van Sales Executive, Commercial or General Manager as the need arises. 

 

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA 

  •  Achieve distribution, sales, and gross profit and collection targets for region. 
  • Weekly reporting on sales execution by route. 

  • Agreement of distribution targets by route with reps. and Van Sales Executive. 

 

 MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  •  First degree preferably in Business Administration/Marketing. 
  • At least two years’ experience in route sales. 

  • Computer literacy is essential.
