   Purpose of Job

 

To provide guidance, process reported incidents/accidents and to negotiate the best claim settlement in the requisite timelines on the client’s behalf. Further to administer and coordinate activities of the Claims Department, where required.

 

    Principal Responsibilities

 

  • Accurately record verbal and written incident/claim reports from and on behalf of clients within the stipulated timelines.
  • Evaluate clients' portfolio to determine appropriate coverage for filing claim.
  • Provide guidance to customers in the reporting and preparation of claims, including the completion of Claim Forms, where necessary.
  • Observing the weekly follow-up system and maintaining the client contact as required.
  • Ensure claims updates on the system are current, and made available to the Underwriting departments.
  • Negotiate terms and quantum of claims with Adjusters, Insurers and Clients.
  • Offer assistance and advice on technical matters to members of staff under supervision.
  • Assist in training staff via day-to-day interaction on the job.
  • Generate quarterly reports of all outstanding claims; conduct reviews with corporate clients and assist in the annual review of all outstanding claims.
  • Supervise Registry Clerk

 

      Minimum education and and experience

 

  • At least two (2) years experience working in the General Insurance Industry in Claims.
  • Diploma in Insurance Studies or pursuing the ACII or its equivalent.

 

 

    Key Competencies

  • Working knowledge of Motor, Property, Liability and Personal Accident classes of general insurance.
  • Good negotiation skill with experience in dispute resolution.
