SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

 

 

Purpose of Position

To lead and oversee the Bank Reconciliation Unit, ensuring the timely, accurate and efficient reconciliation of all bank accounts, cash holdings and intercompany accounts, while providing reliable financial information to support effective financial management and business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and approve bank & intercompany reconciliations statements prepared by direct reports.
  • Review and approve assigned P&L and Balance Sheet schedules prepared by direct reports.
  • Prepare assigned bank and intercompany reconciliation within the agreed timeframe.
  • Utilize online banking systems to assist in the timely reconciliation of bank accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries relating to bank reconciliation.
  • Review the revaluation of all foreign currency bank account balances.
  • Approve and post standard journal vouchers.
  • Effective tracking of any issues identified as it relates to the functions of the GKRS Jamaica/GKCTS/GKPS/GKMS in the bank reconciliation processes.
  • Escalation/communication of any issues identified as it relates to the functions of the GKRS Jamaica, GKCTS & GKPS for bank reconciliation processes to appropriate personnel for effective resolution.
  • Facilitate staff development and synergies among team members in the unit.
  • Preparation of assigned monthly management accounts for review by the Financial Controller.
  • Ensure the utilization of the company auto reconciliation system for all accounts assigned to team members.

 

Required Qualification, Experience, Knowledge

  • ACCA/MBA Level 
  • Three (3) or more years’ working experience in financial management and control preferably including banking or financial services involving cash management and bank reconciliations.
  • Familiarity with using and implementing computer-based accounting systems
  • Sound technical skills, analytical ability and good judgment
  • Strong sense of confidentiality and objectivity.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership and social skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MS Outlook applications 
  • In-depth proficiency in spreadsheet applications
  • Ability to operate independently; explore new areas/issues thoroughly and to communicate effectively. 
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines
