QUALITY ASSURANCE ENGINEER

 

 

Purpose of Position

The QA in an agile team is responsible for more than just testing the software. He or she will act as a quality champion and train the team members to create high performance and secure systems. He or she will act entrepreneurially to test unhappy paths and edge cases in performance/security testing to create a highly resilient system. He or she will take advantage of the combination of automated/manual testing to efficiently cover system functionality without compromising quality. He or she is comfortable working in a constantly changing environment and is fully dedicated to the principle of "automating everything".

Key Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Responsible For

In this role, you will support the team by:

  • Designing and executing comprehensive test strategies, including both automated and manual testing approaches
  • Ensuring all features and deliverables are tested against user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Identifying, documenting, and communicating defects, risks, and improvement opportunities, supporting backlog prioritization
  • Developing and maintaining automated test suites with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Conducting regression, performance, and security testing, including testing edge cases and non‑standard scenarios
  • Collaborating with IT and operations teams to validate system performance in production environments
  • Working closely with product owners and designers to align testing with product vision and user needs
  • Partnering with development teams to identify risk areas early in the development lifecycle
  • Staying current with testing best practices, methodologies, and emerging technologies
  • Actively contributing to agile ceremonies and team discussions to support delivery and quality outcomes

Required Qualification, Experience, Knowledge

What Will Make You Successful

  • Experience with automated testing processes, tools, and methodologies across front‑end and back‑end systems
  • Experience applying Black Box and Grey Box testing, particularly for mobile applications (iOS and Android)
  • Strong capability in validating user stories against development deliverables and identifying gaps or inconsistencies
  • Experience with regression testing, performance testing, and developing improvement plans
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies, with experience working in cross‑functional teams
  • Knowledge of JavaScript technologies and cloud environments (an advantage)
