MICROBIOLOGIST
KEY COMPETENCES & REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Food Chemistry or related discipline
- Minimum four years’ experience in microbiological analysis
- Minimum two years’ experience in a food manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Training in ISO 9001/ FSSC 22000, GMP and HACCP
- Ability to work shifts and weekends, as required
- Highly meticulous, with strong organizational and analytical skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including report writing
- Ability to conduct independent research and investigations
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and implement microbiological testing schedules to meet Quality and Food Safety Management System (QFSMS) requirements
- Conduct microbiological analyses and support in-process verification checks to meet QFSMS requirements
- Conduct investigations to determine root causes of product or process failures and recommend corrective actions to improve effectiveness
- Support the validation of processes and products through in-house research or approved external service providers
- Function as an active member of the Food Safety Team
- Participate in internal audits of the Food Safety Management System
- Prepare, maintain, and control accurate quality and food safety records
- Assist with maintaining regulatory and third-party food safety licences and certifications
