GraceKennedy Remittance Services Limited (GKRS) invites applications from experienced, suitable, qualified and dynamic individuals for the position of:
Senior Accounting Officer - General Ledger
Purpose of Position
Support the Senior Accountant in providing timely, complete and accurate operational and financial information on the performance of the business units by ensuring the
integrity of the accounting processes, with particular emphasis on effective general ledger and fixed asset maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including variance reports for review by the Financial Controller
- Prepare assigned tax returns (income tax, GCT, VAT, etc.) for submission to the Inland Revenue/Head Office for assigned companies
- Prepare daily and monthly reconciliation statements for assigned general ledger accounts by the agreed timelines
- Complete Accountants’ checklist for assigned company by the agreed time
- Prepare quarterly payment requests for corporation taxes for assigned companies
- Prepare monthly standard journal vouchers
- Ensure effective maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register, by ensuring that for every disposal/addition there is a Capital Movement/Capital Expenditure form
- Ensure physical count of all fixed assets throughout the network is completed every three years
- Prepare monthly fixed asset schedule/lease schedule for review by relevant supervisor by the agreed deadline
- Assist in the preparation of annual company budgets
- Preparation of quarterly latest estimate for GKMS Jamaica
Required Qualification, Experience, Knowledge
- BSc. Degree in Management Studies/Accounting or equivalent
- Minimum three (3) years relevant work experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially MS Excel.
- Strong sense of confidentiality and objectivity
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of computer-based accounting systems
- Sound technical skills, analytical ability and good judgment
