SENIOR RISK ANALYST
Purpose of Position
Assist with the implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework within the assigned Segment or Strategic Business Unit of the GraceKennedy Financial Group and supporting the Risk Manager – GraceKennedy Financial Group to execute on risk identification, assessment, response, monitoring, reporting and awareness activities. This involves working closely with the relevant leaders at the GraceKennedy Financial Group to manage their respective risks; to facilitate a consolidated enterprise-wide view of risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Risk Manager – GraceKennedy Financial Group (GKFG), SBU Heads, and stakeholders to proactively identify, analyze, and assess upside and downside risks across business functions. This includes conducting workshops, facilitating brainstorming sessions, and reviewing internal and external data to identify potential threats.
- Apply risk assessment methodologies such as stress testing, scenario analysis, hedging, and data modelling to evaluate the likelihood and impact of identified risks.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive risk registers, capturing risk descriptions, severity ratings, likelihood, and potential outcomes.
- Collaborate with the Risk Manager – GKFG and business leaders to develop and implement risk responses (accept, avoid, pursue, reduce, share, review business objectives/strategy), aligned with risk appetite and tolerance.
- Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) and early warning triggers to detect changes in risk exposure and escalate as needed, using risk management systems and reporting tools.
- Support periodic risk reviews to assess the effectiveness of controls and response strategies, identify emerging risks, and recommend enhancements to the ERM framework.
- Assist in developing and maintaining a robust ERM framework aligned with strategic objectives, including drafting policies, defining governance structures, and creating reporting templates.
- Prepare and present clear, concise risk reports to senior management, board committees, and stakeholders using effective data visualization to support decision-making.
- Work with departments to embed risk management into operations through workshops, training, and clear risk reporting channels.
- Serve as a central point of contact for risk-related queries, supporting communication plans, awareness initiatives, and a culture of open dialogue on risks and opportunities.
- Conduct ongoing research on industry best practices, emerging risks, and regulatory requirements through professional engagement and industry publications.
- Analyze risk data (incident reports, trends, regulatory updates) to identify patterns, correlations, and key insights on risk exposure.
- Present research findings clearly, using data visualization where appropriate, to inform risk strategies.
- Promote a risk-aware culture by sharing best practices, lessons learned, and supporting risk champions across the organization.
Required Qualification, Experience, Knowledge
Education / Qualification:
o Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science) or business discipline (Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management) preferred.
o Master's degree or relevant professional designation (e.g., Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP) or Financial Modeling and Valuation Analyst (FMVA) a strong plus.
Experience:
o 3-5 years of experience in risk management, financial analysis, or a related field.
o Experience in a similar role within the same industry (Banking, Insurance, Investments, Remittances, etc.) a strong plus.
Knowledge & Skills:
o In-depth understanding of risk management principles, frameworks (ERM, COSO, ISO), and methodologies (FMEA, scenario planning).
o Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
o Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to synthesize complex data from various sources.
o Strong quantitative skills with proficiency in statistical analysis and data visualization.
o Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to present information clearly and persuasively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
o Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues at all levels, fostering a collaborative risk management culture.
o Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines even under pressure.
o Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for ensuring high-quality work.
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and report generation.
o Ability to leverage risk management software tools.
o Experience in conducting risk assessments and developing risk response plans.
o Understanding of internal controls and their role in risk management.
o Strong research and investigative skills.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
