FINANCIAL ANALYST - INSURANCE
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Preparing, reviewing, and analyzing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations. with commentary to monitor financial performance against budget and forecasts providing insights to senior management to optimize profitability and resource allocation
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Leading the development of financial plans, budgets, and forecasts to support strategic decision-making
- Financial Modeling & Analysis: Developing complex models to assess investment performance, risk, and profitability, particularly concerning insurance products.
- Conduct business analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Develop board reports and presentations, translating complex financial data into clear insights.
- Review and/or prepare regulatory reports to ensure compliance with insurance industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement across financial reporting and analysis functions.
- Lead implementation of process enhancements, including automation and efficiency initiatives.
- Collaborate with actuarial, underwriting, and operations teams as required to align financial insights with business objectives.
- Assist with Risk & Data Analysis: Evaluating risks in insurance programs and using data to support strategic decisions.
- Provide guidance to team members and contribute to building a strong analytical culture within the finance team.
Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or related field; professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA,) preferred.
- 3 years' work experience in insurance or financial services industry strongly preferred.
- Strong competence in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions, pivot tables, and financial modeling.
- Solid foundation in actuarial science and mathematics, with the ability to apply quantitative methods to insurance-related financial analysis.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.
- Excellent statistical analysis and financial forecasting skills
- Attention to detail and the ability to identify data patterns
- Good communication skills both oral and written
