ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
 

 

Purpose of Position

To support the engineering team by maintaining and optimizing production systems and equipment, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operations while upholding food safety and quality standards through preventive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize plant equipment to ensure reliable and efficient operations
  • Conduct equipment assessments and implement improvements to enhance performance and productivity
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and integration of new equipment and technologies
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs and equipment manuals
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring equipment failures
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, including FSSC 22000 standards
  • Provide technical guidance and training to production personnel
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and waste reduction
  • Implement and maintain preventive maintenance programmes in line with company standards
  • Stay abreast of industry developments and emerging processing and packaging technologies.

Required Qualification, Experience, Knowledge

  • Certificate in electrical/mechanical engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar technical role in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the food industry
  • Strong knowledge of FSSC 22000 standards and food safety regulations
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Familiarity with PLCs, sensors, and control systems
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a demanding environment.
