ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (CONTROL)
Purpose of Position
To support the engineering team by maintaining and optimizing production systems and equipment. The role ensures food safety, quality, and efficiency while executing preventive maintenance and driving plant improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize automated control systems, including PLCs, SCADA, and HMI interfaces.
- Conduct regular assessments of automation systems to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to integrate new automation technologies and enhance operational efficiency.
- Develop and maintain documentation for automation processes, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical manuals.
- Support the installation and commissioning of new automated equipment and systems.
- Perform root cause analysis for system failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure all automation activities comply with FSSC 22000 standards and other relevant regulations.
- Provide training and technical support to production staff on automation systems and troubleshooting procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and optimize production efficiency.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in automation technology.
- Implement the preventive maintenance programme to agreed company standards
Required Qualification & Experience
- Certificate in Automation Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in automation systems within manufacturing (food industry preferred).
- Proficiency in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and HMI development (Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
- Strong knowledge of FSSC 22000 standards and food safety regulations.
- Experience with industrial networking, control systems, and instrumentation.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a demanding environment.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
