COMMUNICATIONS LEAD

Purpose of Position

The Communications Lead is responsible for translating and leading FGB's brand voice across all communications channels. This role owns the expression of FGB's brand platform in words, ensuring that every communication produced by or on behalf of FGB is consistent, credible, and emotionally connected to the bank's strategic direction and transformation agenda. The Communications Lead owns the communications discipline within the function with the mindset of a specialist who is personally accountable for how FGB sounds, feels, and connects with every audience it speaks to. 

Key Responsibilities

1. Brand Voice Translation and Ownership
•    Own the translation and expression of FGB's brand voice, tone, and personality across all communications outputs, ensuring the brand platform set by the Head of Customer Experience and Marketing is expressed consistently and compellingly across every channel
•    Develop and maintain FGB's brand communications guidelines including tone of voice standards, messaging frameworks, and copy benchmarks that reflect FGB's brand platform and transformation agenda
•    Translate FGB's strategic direction, brand positioning, and transformation narrative into emotionally resonant communications for diverse audiences including customers, staff, media, and stakeholders
•    Review written outputs across the marketing function from a brand voice and communications standards perspective, providing specialist feedback and recommendations before final approval

2. Campaign Language and Brand Storytelling
•    Develop campaign messaging, headlines, taglines, copy frameworks, and brand stories in collaboration with the Assistant Manager, Brand Marketing and Marketing Officer, Brand
•    Ensure all campaign language is strategically aligned, emotionally resonant, and tailored precisely to the intended audience and channel
•    Develop content that sustains FGB's always-on brand presence across platforms, anchored in the Banking Wellness platform and FGB's positioning as a transforming financial institution

3. Internal Communications
•    Develop and manage internal communications that support FGB's transformation agenda and build staff alignment with the brand and strategic direction
•    Write and prepare staff communications including announcements, campaign launches, brand updates, strategic milestones, and organisational messages
•    Support the preparation of communications for internal events, town halls, staff activations, and leadership messaging

4. FGB Executive Communications Support
•    Take primary responsibility for the preparation and drafting of FGB executive messages, speeches, talking points, and thought leadership content for FGB's senior leadership team
•    Review all executive communications drafts for brand voice consistency, clarity, and alignment with FGB's transformation narrative before submission to the relevant leader for approval

5. PR and Media Support
•    Draft media releases, official statements, and reactive communications for FGB for review and approval by the Head of Customer Experience and Marketing
•    Monitor media coverage and public sentiment around FGB, proactively identifying reputational risks and communications opportunities
•    Support crisis communications preparation by developing and maintaining FGB specific key message documents

6. Communications Discipline Leadership
•    Lead the communications discipline within the Customer Experience and Marketing function, setting and maintaining the standard for all written and verbal communications outputs as the specialist authority on brand voice and communications quality
•    Provide communications guidance and copy direction to team members producing written content, working in collaboration with the Assistant Manager, Brand Marketing to ensure FGB's brand voice is upheld across all outputs
•    Stay current with communications trends, platform developments, and best practice to continuously elevate the quality and impact of FGB's communications

7. Customer Experience Communications Support
•    Support the Customer Experience Manager in developing communications that bring FGB's CX vision, service standards, and customer experience improvements to life for both staff and customers
•    Contribute to the development of customer-facing communications that reinforce FGB's brand promise and CX positioning across all touchpoints

Required Qualification, Experience, Knowledge

•    Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, or a related field
•    Professional certification in communications, public relations, or marketing is an asset
•    Minimum 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in brand communications, marketing communications, public relations, or corporate communications
•    Demonstrated expertise in developing brand copy, campaign messaging, multi-channel content, and executive communications
•    Proven experience managing external communications including media releases and stakeholder messaging
•    Experience in internal communications development and delivery
•    Experience in financial services, banking, or a regulated industry is strongly preferred
•    Familiarity with digital content platforms, social media communications, and executive thought leadership content
