CLAIMS ASSOCIATE

  1. Purpose of Job

 

Provide guidance to clients, process reported incidents/accidents and negotiate the best claim settlements on behalf of clients.

 

 Principal Responsibilities

 

  • Record verbal and written incident/claim reports from and on behalf of clients within the stipulated timelines.
  • Evaluate clients' portfolios to determine appropriate coverage for filing claims.
  • Provide guidance to customers in the reporting and preparation of claims, including the completion of Claim Forms, where necessary.
  • Observe the weekly follow-up system and maintain the client contact within the targeted timelines.
  • Ensure claims updates on the system are current.
  • Negotiate claims settlements with Insurers and Clients.
  • Prepare claims experience reports for clients and attend review meetings with the Claims Unit Leader.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned.

 

Minimum Education and Experience

 

  • At least two (2) years experience working in the General Insurance Industry in Claims.
  • Diploma in Insurance Studies.

 

 Key Competencies

 

  • Working knowledge of Motor, Property, Liability and Personal Accident classes of general insurance.
  • Good negotiation and problem solving skills.
  • The ability to work on own initiative.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • The ability to facilitate team concept and foster team effort.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities.
