Business Banking Executive (BBE) - Kingston

Purpose of Position

The incumbent will be responsible for the cross-selling, up selling and retention of existing commercial customers and on qualifying and converting prospects in the assigned market area. The post-holder will also be required to manage a portfolio of borrowing and non-borrowing accounts through effective relationship management.

 

Principal responsibilities

  • Develop and implement plans to manage and grow the commercial portfolio of SMEs assigned, focusing on increasing product penetration of existing customers in the various lines of business e.g. loans, deposits, etc.
  • Ensure assigned relationships receive ongoing attention as required, to maintain and grow the relationship:
  • Actively seek customer feedback on the Bank’s products and services and the delivery of excellent customer service.
  • Liaise with Credit Administration and Credit Risk for fulfilment (including documentation, liaison with 3rd parties, security registration) of all service activities.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of each customer’s business, industry and associated risks.
  • Promote sale of the Bank’s products through frequent client meetings and discussions covering investment strategy, account performance, new products and market developments.
  • Work closely with Marketing, Treasury, Credit and other business units within Financial Services Division to coordinate all marketing, sales and support services for assigned / targeted accounts.
  • Comfortably handle cold calls.
  • Safeguard the Bank’s assets and liabilities by maintaining the quality of assigned portfolio:
  • Ensure any and all support from other departments of the Bank on fulfillment, client portfolio monitoring and servicing is completed.
  • Maintain adherence to the Bank’s Anti-Money Laundering program and Guidelines for business conduct, by reporting any unusual occurrences or fraudulent activities.
  • Ensure all Compliance policies are followed including “Know your Customer” (KYC) Guidelines.

 

Required Qualification, Experience and Key Competencies:

The successful candidate should have:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management Studies, Marketing or related discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ in commercial banking, three (3) of which should be in business development.
  • Proven record of exceptional sales and sound judgment are essential.
  • Experienced commercial banker who has a demonstrated record of success in originating new business with small and medium sized business customers
  • Good communication (oral and written). Must be able to effectively articulate their views both within the Bank, and externally in the marketplace.
  • Good networking and interpersonal skills to work effectively with customers and successfully handle complaints; ability to understand customers’ individual needs and requirements and vary interpersonal approach to each situation.
  • Analytical skills and ability to assess lending risks.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Banking Act 1992, the Banking Amendment Act 1997 and the BOJ Regulations regarding Credit Classification, Provisioning and Non-accrual Requirements.
  • Ability to be persuasive in marketing the Bank’s products and services.
  • Strong knowledge of the Bank’s commercial lending and deposit products and services.
