Purpose of Position

The Assistant Manager, Strategy & Channel Development is responsible for converting GK Mutual Funds' strategic priorities into commercially sound plans, financial models, forecasts, channel frameworks and measurable execution programmes. The role builds and maintains the analytical foundation for decision-making, including forecasting, scenario analysis, business cases, channel economics, performance dashboards and management reporting.

 

The incumbent supports the design, launch and optimization of physical, partnership and technology-enabled channels; coordinates cross-functional delivery and provides timely insight on AUM, revenue, client acquisition, liquidity, cost, return and risk. The role operates at Assistant Manager level through ownership of critical workstreams, judgement on analytical outputs, governance discipline and influence across internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Development & Execution

  • Translate corporate and business strategy into annual operating priorities, implementation roadmaps, milestones, owners, resource requirements and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead strategic research on market trends, competitor activity, client behaviour, product opportunities and distribution economics, and convert findings into executive recommendations.

Financial Modeling, Forecasting & Decision Support

  • Own and continuously improve integrated models for AUM, subscriptions, redemptions, revenue, fees, operating costs, liquidity, client growth and channel productivity.
  • Develop driver-based budgets, rolling forecasts, scenario and sensitivity analyses, and long-range projections to support planning and resource allocation.

Channel Framework & Commercial Development

  • Design a repeatable channel-development framework covering opportunity assessment, target segments, proposition, operating model, economics, controls, implementation readiness, partner governance and performance management.
  • Evaluate and help structure new distribution opportunities across branch, corporate, institutional, partnership, direct and technology-enabled channels.

Programme Leadership, Governance & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead cross-functional workstreams from scoping through implementation, including project plans, dependencies, decision logs, risk and issue registers, testing, readiness and post-implementation review.
  • Facilitate structured performance and project forums, ensure decisions are documented, and follow through on agreed actions.

Required Qualification, Experience, Knowledge

  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, Business, Statistics, Data Analytics or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Professional qualification or active progress toward CFA, FRM, ACCA, CMA or a relevant postgraduate degree is an asset.
  • Minimum four to six years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, strategy, investment analysis, business analytics, management consulting or financial services.
  • Demonstrated experience developing financial models, forecasts, budgets, dashboards and decision papers for management or governance forums.
  • Experience supporting capital allocation, investment research, portfolio or funding analysis, channel economics, business cases or cross-functional strategic initiatives is strongly preferred.
  • Mutual fund, asset management, banking, securities or wider financial-sector experience is an asset.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling capability, including driver-based models, sensitivity analysis and structured quality checks.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, valuation concepts, investment products, portfolio metrics and risk-adjusted decision-making.
  • Ability to turn complex quantitative analysis into concise commercial recommendations for non-technical and senior audiences.
