ACCOUNTS ASSOCIATE
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete bank reconciliation activities timely to ensure the accuracy of the monthly Management Accounts.
- Complete the requisite checks daily to ensure that all payments made electronically to the company are receipted on a timely basis.
- Ensure monthly reconciliations for assigned Banks and Balance Sheet accounts are completed timely and accurately, conducting investigations into reconciling differences and having them corrected within the prescribed timeline.
- Complete the daily Match Back Summary Report verifying that all receipts are deposited to the Company’s bank accounts by the following day.
- Analyse general ledger accounts assigned ensuring transactions are properly classified and coded and where discrepancies are noted that the appropriate corrections are made in the General Ledger.
- Complete Investment Bond Summary report ensuring all payments are receipted correctly per statement.
- Update daily investment transactions in Investment Plus verifying that amounts for receipts, placements and endorsements are accurate for GKI and submit for review and approval.
- Create required correcting Journal entries to update general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
- Effectively handle customer (internal and external) queries regarding general ledger accounts and reconciliations.
- Follows-up with customers (internal and external) to ensure queries are closed effectively where applicable.
Required Qualification, Experience, Knowledge and skills:
- First Degree in Finance, Accounts, Statistics or related field
- General accounting principles, standards and regulations
- Two (2) years’ experience in an Accounting or Finance Department
- Exhibit commitment to exceeding customer expectations
- Demonstrate excellent Problem Solving and Analytical thinking skills
- Demonstrate ability to make timely and informed decisions
- Maintain a high level of accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to details
- Collaborates well with others and contributes to a positive team environment.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills, prioritization and time management skills.
- Demonstrate ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally.
