ACCOUNTANT - REGULATORY REPORTING & TAXATION

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit regulatory report filings with the appropriate regulatory authority and ensure that regulatory timelines are always met.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to ensure the continuous monitoring and analysis of the group’s business to meet statutory and regulatory reporting requirements. Maintain up to date knowledge of reporting requirements, regulatory changes, and developments.
  • Represent the group at meetings with regulatory agencies and industry organizations regarding regulatory reporting matters, ensuring all reporting queries are appropriately responded to on a timely basis. Ensure relevant senior stakeholders are appraised of key reporting queries and their resolution.
  • Calculate the applicable regulated entities capital requirements, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and advising senior management of any early warning signs. 
  • Remain current on regulatory changes and market trends; perform research on changes in new regulatory reporting requirements and accounting standards and its impact to the organization's reporting requirements; ensure compliance with internal regulatory reporting policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the calculation and accurate and timely submission of the applicable regulated entities’ annual licenses’ fee.
  • Act as the principal point of contact and respond to regulatory investigations and queries as per agreed timelines.

 

Required Qualification, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • BSc. in Accounting or ACCA Level II
  • Five (5) years’ experience in accounting of which one (1) should be in a regulated institution.
  • General knowledge of accounting principles, standards and regulations
  • General knowledge of General Ledger application and sub-ledger system 
  • Relevant knowledge of Insurance Regulations for jurisdictions in which the company operates inclusive of St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Grenada, Dominica, St. Kitts, Anguilla, Antigua, Barbados, Belize, Turks and Caicos, British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands.  Knowledge of regulations in Jamaica (parent company location) will be an asset.
  • Knowledge of Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) and regulations
  • Proven capability of managing multiple deliverables to tight deadlines, in a highly controlled environment
  • Ability to clearly articulate issues both verbally and in writing
  • Detailed oriented with strong problem solving, decision-making skills and analytical thinking.
  • Collaborative and results-oriented
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Excel
